Early Learning Indiana awards $26,500 for healthy development in early learning programs.
Thanks to the generous support of the Indiana State Department of Health, Early Learning Indiana awarded $26,500 as part of the Healthy Start! Award Program. The funding opportunity consists of $500 cash prizes for boosting healthy development for children and families receiving care in licensed child care centers, registered ministries, licensed family childcare homes and programs with legally exempt providers.
The awards will benefit 53 different programs across Indiana.
Of the awards distributed, 50 will help increase the physical activity of children within their programs through staff training and purchasing equipment, supplies or other items that will facilitate enhanced physical activity. Three of the awards will help programs support breastfeeding through developing or improving a breastfeeding space or by providing professional development for staff around supporting breastfeeding. The selection process was competitive, and the winners are diverse: 15 family childcare homes, 28 licensed centers and 10 registered ministries will help little Hoosiers get healthy across 23 Indiana counties.
This project is possible with funding from ISDH, $25,000 (94%) and other funding, $1,500 (6%).
