On My Way Pre-K Applications Available in 10 New Pilot Counties

New On My Way Pre-K Pilot Counties – Family applications available today!

In June 2017, Governor Eric J. Holcomb and the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) announced that 15 additional Indiana counties are now eligible to participate in On My Way Pre-K. Ten of those counties have agreed to pilot a half-year program beginning in January 2018 for the second half of the 2017-2018 school year for children that will attend kindergarten in August 2018. The other announced counties (DeKalb, Floyd, Harrison, Marshall and Vigo) will begin their programs in the 2018-2019 school year.

On My Way Pre-KFamily applications for a half year On My Way Pre-K program beginning in January 2018 will be available beginning September 25, 2017, for approved On My Way Pre-K programs located in these 10 new pilot counties: Bartholomew, Delaware, Elkhart, Howard, Madison, Kosciusko, Marshall, Monroe, St. Joseph and Tippecanoe counties. Links to the applications are coming soon!

Families are encouraged to complete either:

Families are advised not to complete both an online application and a paper application.

Families for this small, half-year cohort will be chosen on a first come-first served basis in the order in which applications are received. There are limited slots available in each county so families are encouraged to apply early for best chances. Applications will be accepted until all available slots have been filled.

On My Way Pre-K 2Families must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  1. Child must be 4 but not yet 5-years old by August 1, 2017.
  2. Child must be a resident of Indiana.
  3. Parents/guardians in the household must have a service need (working, going to school, attending job training).
  4. Families must earn less than 127 percent of federal poverty level (FPL). To learn more about this requirement, visit: http://www.in.gov/fssa/files/CCDFSlidingFeeSchedule_withCopay.pdf

Families chosen for On My Way Pre-K grants will receive not only a half year of a high quality prekindergarten program, but will also have access to high quality early education environments for a full 53 weeks from the start of their grant.

After the prekindergarten program ends in June, families will still be able to access not only high quality summer care but also high quality before and after school care once they begin kindergarten to support their parents who work or attend school. The former EEMG grantees have agreed to continue offering high quality On My Way Pre-K grants to families in their communities. Families who are interested in receiving a pre-K education for their child at these locations should contact these On My Way Pre-K Agreement sites directly.
